Don’t Be Afraid
I walk my dog Maisey most every morning. About 2/3 of the way through our route today something changed in her demeanor. She picked up her pace and her tail was visibly between her legs. She almost dragged me the rest of the way home!
In almost eight years I had never seen her do that. So I looked up what a tail between the legs means for dogs and evidently it means they are frightened or scared.I don’t know what caused it, but she was obviously afraid of something.
As we go into Holy Week, I wonder if Jesus ever felt any fear (from His human side)? After all, He knew He only had a few days left on this earth. He also knew the anguish He would go through, both mentally and physically.
I think I know the answer to that question (hint: He was also God and trusted the Father implicitly). I do know this…He never stopped his journey to the cross. He kept going to show His love and grace for you and me.
We can keep going in this life, too. We can finish our journey on this earth when the Lord is on our side. I love what Paul writes in 1 Timothy 2: 7:
7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
When Jesus lives in you, you have the Spirit of God within you. Whatever you are facing, God has got your back!
I’m praying that each of us will draw close to the Savior this Holy Week.
