R.C. Sproul: “The issue of faith is not so much whether we believe in God, but whether we believe the God we believe in.”
According to Pew Research Center, 80 percent of Americans believe in God. That’s the good news.
Here’s the bad news: Nearly a third of Americans say the “deity” in which they believe is not the God of the Bible but “some higher power/spiritual force.” Another 10 percent “do not believe in any higher power/spiritual force.” Only 56 percent of us “believe in God as described in the Bible.”
Jesus said in John 14: 6 – “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.” He didn’t say I am a way, a truth and a life. There’s a huge difference in the little article “a.”
If we believe in the God of the Bible, we believe in love, grace, mercy, judgment, heaven, hell…the whole ball of wax as described in Scripture.
This makes a difference in how we live. In the decisions and choices we make. And it makes a difference in our witness to the world.
What “deity” do you believe in today?
Love, Learn, Live…Jesus.
